One more day...

I cannot believe we our trip has come upon us so quickly! It is almost impossible to imagine what we are leaving in just 24 hours and we will be meeting Clara in a few days. We received a developmental report on her the other day and we feel like we know her a bit better now. It seems like she cries when she is sleepy and likes to fall asleep in a calm environment and she sleeps through the night!! As she falls asleep, she sucks her fingers. She loves to play with toys and her favorite it a rattle drum. After reading this, I went to Target and got her a Leap Frog drum, nothing like the rattle I am sure... but a drum nonetheless. The report says that Clara's personality it lively and she loves to talk and smile. She is gregarious and has exuberant energy. She is also occasionally stubborn. After dinner every night, her foster father takes her around the block for a walk and she likes being around people.
We are so happy that she seems healthy and content and feel for her that she will go through the loss of her foster parents who love her. I feel sad about this but in the long run, it will be just fine. We hope that we can comfort her through this transition.
Liah is doing ok. She is feeling a bit left out so we are doing a lot of spoiling of her lately. We also tell her that when she is with her grandparents, they will spoil her too. We hope to be able to update this blog while in China with pictures and reports of our trip... thanks for the support during this most exciting time!

  1. Sending wishes for safe travels and for both of your girls to make seamless transitions ~ or as seamless as they can be, given the AMAZING journey ahead!!

SO excited for your family and Clara sounds positively wonderful!!!!! Her Foster Family sounds loving and perceptive and hopefully you will be able to maintain some kind of contact as the years go on.

Liah will come to relish her time with her Grandparents and once you are home will slip into her role of Big Sis with ease...I believe that!!!!

    Sending many many hugs!!!!!
